Recreation and Spiritual Care

Recreation

Activities are particularly important for the functional abilities and quality of life of residents in care facilties. We recognise that Residents can still feel socially isolated in their new environment and may not be able to meet and engage with new people. Therefore we at Aroha design our programme to cater for the differences, abilities and preferences of our residents.

Our recreational officers ensure that all residents have access to events that enhance their well being.

This includes events such as trips in our courtesy van to musical events to pet visits.

Our recreational officers;

  • Run day activities with staff and volunteers
  • Plan the social calendar for the home
  • Support our residents to pursue their interests
  • Help our residents to maintain connection with their community
  • Guide our residents to learn new skills

Spiritual Care

Together with the weekly church services in our chapel from visiting ministers we also have a Chaplain on staff who is available to residents and families at their request or desire.
