Aroha’s Story
Aroha Care Centre for the Elderly has been a trusted part of the community since 1972, providing compassionate care and support to older adults in the Hutt Valley. Founded with a vision to serve with Christian values, including dignity, respect, and love, Aroha has grown from a small residential facility into a multi-service care centre offering permanent care, respite services, day programmes, and retirement living.
Our name, Aroha, reflects our core values—caring, giving, sharing. These principles guide everything we do, from daily care to long-term planning.
Over the years, Aroha has evolved to meet the changing needs of our residents and community. We continue to invest in our facilities, staff, and services to ensure we provide high-quality, person-centred care in a safe and welcoming environment.
Governance
Aroha Care Centre is governed by a dedicated Board of Trustees who bring a wide range of expertise in aged care, health, finance, and community service. The Board provides strategic oversight, ensures compliance with regulatory standards, and upholds Aroha’s mission and values.
Our governance framework includes:
- Board of Trustees – responsible for strategic direction, financial stewardship, and policy oversight.
- Management Team – led by the CEO and supported by clinical, operational, and administrative leaders.
- Sub-Committees – including Finance, Policy, and Property, to support focused decision-making and accountability.
We are committed to transparency, continuous improvement, and ethical leadership. Our governance practices align with the Charities Act, Health and Disability Services Standards, and best practice in aged care management.
